PADI Enriched Air Diver (Nitrox)

Whether you’re into underwater photography or wreck diving, on vacation in some tropical paradise such as Curacao, or just out for a leisurely day of diving at your favourite local dive site, the PADI Enriched Air Diver course helps you get more out of diving by enabling you to stay down for longer. Especially if you’re making repetitive dives in a day.

You can take this PADI dive course as soon as you’re a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver (min 12 years old).

Using the PADI training materials (see Can I start learning right now? below) you’ll complete a Knowledge Review and an exam to ensure you’ve mastered the theory behind this exciting adventure including:

• why diving on air with a higher oxygen and lower nitrogen content than regular air, gives you more bottom time
• special equipment considerations
• and how to analyse tank contents, plan enriched air dives and avoid / handle Nitrox-related incidents

If you’re already completed your knowledge development (see Can I start learning right now? below), it takes approximately 1 hour for your Dive Bus instructor to:

• discuss managing oxygen exposure.
• practice analyzing oxygen content in your scuba tank and logging it
• learn how to set your dive computer for diving with enriched air nitrox
• teach you the practicalities of diving on Nitrox (tank analysis and logging; dive planning on your dive computer if needed).

There are no required training dives for the Enriched Air Nitrox Specialty.

So, how long does this course take? It’s up to you :o)

All of The Dive Bus rental scuba equipment (see right) can be used with enriched air, but you’ll use our special scuba tanks that meet oxygen service standards and are dedicated for use with enriched air only.

If you don’t have your own, you’ll also use one of The Dive Bus dive computers for your dive planning, as well as our oxygen analyzers to check your EANx mix.

When you show your Enriched Air Diver certification card, you’ll be able to rent Nitrox tanks instead of air for your dives.

You’ll be able to extend your bottom time and dive for longer as you’ll know how to check your mix and plan your dive depths and times accordingly.

   This web-based system covers all the enriched air diver course content and allows you to study at your own pace through an easy-to-use, interactive program. Sign up here. You’ll have access to an online version of the Enriched Air Diver Manual for 12 months so if you want your own hardcopy for future reference, buy your Enriched Air Diver Manual from The Dive Bus.
2. The PADI Enriched Air Diver Manual
   Swing by The Dive Bus as soon as you get to sunny Curacao and pick up your Enriched Air Diver Manual and other goodies, which is included in the price of your course (unless you go for the eLearning option).If you can’t wait until you get to Curacao, visit your local PADI dive shop back home to purchase these.Whichever option you choose, your Dive Bus instructor will review everything with you to ensure you’re comfortable and ready to go scuba divin’!
